What a vivid description of our present culture! Unfortunately, this culture has found a stronghold in our churches: as Paul said, many churches have a “form of godliness” but deny its power. Preaching has become watered down in order to appease contemporary listeners. John Hagee stated in his book “Four Blood Moons” that “sermons of many twenty-first century clergy have become more a mixture of pop psychology and pyschobabble than the pure preaching of the gospel. Their purpose is to make the hearers feel good instead of challenging them to do good.” (p.59)
Listen to what God’s Word says to do: “from such people turn away.” Have nothing to do with the ungodliness of this world.
